KIM CARROLL

Over more than a dozen years in international public relations and marketing, Kim Carroll has shown creativity and discipline in helping a wide range of companies tell their stories, especially in cutting-edge and fast-paced environments. Specializing in the world of technology in her early years, Carroll led product announcements and conducted corporate image campaigns for companies ranging from startups on up to Microsoft and other heavyweights. She worked with media ranging from newsletters to the Wall Street Journal, Fortune and the New York Times. More recently, Carroll has been focusing on how companies can use social media to get their messages out and manage their images.

Carroll began her career in Silicon Valley, helping build the public presence of Sun Microsystems, among others. She later worked for some of the best-known agencies in the Valley, including Regis McKenna, where she conducted a highly visible campaign for Go, the pioneer in tablet computers. 

Moving into unexplored territory as Nafta was approved, Carroll built a PR practice for Edelman in Mexico. As a senior vice president with Edelman, she handled all the public relations in Mexico for Microsoft, EDS and Edelman.

After taking time off to raise her two daughters, who are now teenagers, Carroll returned to the work force in 2008 as a senior vice president with Waggener Edstrom. She spearheaded the efforts for TellMe, a voice services startup acquired by Microsoft.

She has done considerable volunteer work, including with the National Charity League and with school PTAs and education foundations in the communities of Granite Bay and Atherton, Calif., Carroll has a bachelor’s degree in public relations from San Jose State University.
